THE ROLE

The post holder will provide insight into the quality and quantity of English Qualified Coaches (EQC) working in positions of influence in domestic and overseas leagues for the Male & Female game aligned to the Integrated Coaching Strategy.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Provide insight into the qualities and volume of EQC working in positions of influence in domestic and overseas leagues for the male & female game.
    • Deliver weekly report tracking EQC across Pro Game domestic and overseas leagues
    • Deliver weekly report tracking competitors talent pipeline across Pro Game domestic and overseas leagues e.g. Spain, Germany, Portugal, Holland, Italy, France
    • Deliver monthly report tracking EQC in the following roles of influence:
      • Technical Director
      • Manager
      • 1st Team Coach
      • U23 Coach
      • U18 Coach
      • Academy Manager
      • Head of Coaching
  • Examine playing & non-playing careers of leading coaches across Europe, the volume & variety of environments within which they served their coaching apprenticeships, the balance of youth game & senior game exposure & further education experience.
  • Lead bespoke insight projects e.g.
    • Develop understanding of opportunities for EQC to work abroad in order to grow their experience & exposure
    • Conduct annual salary benchmarking for coaching roles in domestic and key overseas leagues
    • Role of agents in placing managers/coaches
    • Ownership models & structure of clubs & nationality/profile of coaching staff
    • Champions & Europa League coach profiling & benchmarking
    • Historical profiling of successful coaches - playing vs non-playing background & education

Deliver insights into the managerial and coaching landscape in order to shape content of UEFA A, UEFA Pro Licence & Technical Director Awards and to inform the bespoke CPD support which will be provided by The FA to EQC Talent pipeline

  • Support Technical & Tactical analysis project in partnership with Liverpool John Moores University to facilitate management & manipulation of data science feeds from top domestic and European leagues to examine critical trends, advanced tactics & strategies, and positional profiles of players, to underpin our UEFA courses & CPD provision.
  • Executes additional tasks as required in order to meet FA Group changing priorities.

THE CANDIDATE

  • A qualification at degree level (or equivalent) in mathematics, analytics, or related discipline. A masters in an analytics related discipline would be desirable
  • Extensive experience in delivering data driven insights to end users in a business or sport environment
  • High-level knowledge of and proficiency in the use of multiple data sources, excel, and specific data analysis and visualisation software e.g. tableau, SAP suite, SQL server etc
  • Track record in data analytics with focus on interpretability and visualisation
  • Good planning skills and project management skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Experience of working within effective teams
  • Experience of working within an elite sporting or football environment and with sports performance related data would be beneficial
