The FA Skills Programme – Skills Coaches NORTH Region (ref:SC2010) - (currently fixed-term contracts until July 2014)
The Football Association introduced The FA Tesco Skills Programme to provide all 5-11’s with a skill set to develop their game, foster lifelong healthy active lifestyles and to improve the long-term performance of our National Game. This Programme will have a massive short and long-term impact on the nation’s children and football as a whole. The Programme aims to give 5-11’s age appropriate coaching and self-help tools to learn the basics needed to reach their full potential. The Programme has provided 4 million places on coaching courses to-date. By working with Tesco and supported by Sport England, The FA aims to provide 4.7 million places by 2014.
To help sustain and grow the current Programme, The FA would like to appoint Skills Coaches to the following Teams:
Lancashire x 1                                      Sheffield & Hallamshire x 2
Cumberland x 2                                    Liverpool x 1
Westmoreland x 1                                Isle of Man x 2*
Northumberland x 2                             Durham x 1
Cheshire x3                                          West Riding x 3
* Please note applicants for the Isle of Man vacancies must be eligible for a work permit.
The successful candidates will support their Skills Team to deliver FA Tesco Skills to 5-11 year olds through Skills Centres, school curriculum lessons, Charter Standard Clubs, Girls and disability Centres of Excellence’s/Player Development Centre’s.
Successful candidates will possess the following:
  • Minimum FA/UEFA Level 2 valid coaching award
  • Attendance of the FA Youth Award Module 1 or above
  • Licensed member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club 
  • A clear commitment to, experience of and a passion for coaching 5-11 year olds
  • Ability to enthuse and communicate with 5-11 year olds in a positive learning environment
  • Experience/understanding of child development and appropriate teaching/coaching methods
  • Ability to work on one’s own initiative and as part of a team
  • Willingness to work unsocial working hours
